I can recall several times reading online or newspapers' articles that we waste about £300 worth of food per year. I never believed that kind of research or articles but it is time for me to say a humble ''I am sorry'' to all these people that made efforts to convince us this is the case.
Only the past week due to bad planning of week's food preparation, I must have wasted more than 20 quid. Evidence is on the above photo.
This money could have gone to:
- charity, towards pension or holidays, buying some presents or buying some food for the weeks ahead.
Your comment? May be, I am a total destructive consumer in London.
I was thinking the other day that a habitant of London city constantly consumes and never produces anything on their own at their place, I mean something beneficial for their family or society.
Yes, I know that there are some good exceptions. The plethora of us go back home, for seeing our people, sleep, have some food and execute some good and essential biological needs.
Around 8.5 million of us doing the same things every day and not producing anything? Wow, that really hurts our planet?
What can I do then ones might ask:
1. Recycle:
it is the one and only simple action that can done by everybody,
2. Replant some of the herbs pot you bought from the supermarkets,
I did this with two of them: Thyme and mint in the middle of last winter, when it was snowing and the results are amazing: Evidence provided
3. Freeze the food,
read the instructions on the packaging, did you know that milk can be stored frozen?
I am sure that you and I can find thousand of things in London to be beneficial to each other, if we do a brainstorming session, I will be waiting for your ideas.
